The accused confessed to 17 charges at the judicial center on the end of the week

A person who laced candy with sleeping medication and provided them to children at a summer program in Leicestershire has admitted sexual crimes against two young males who were nine and ten years old.

The accused was taken into custody after eight youngsters and an older person became sick at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.

The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.

However, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a young boy.

The accused was held in detention ahead of a subsequent court date on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, prosecuting, detailed the criminal behavior to the court.

She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he ran.

The man played a "candy game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to consume candy "as fast as possible".

She told the court the man had played this game with the young males "for many years", and minors had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She said the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.

The prosecutor added: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.

"They decided to have a look in the defendant's belongings."

The prosecutor said items including baby oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were discovered, and his stepchild contacted the police about his worries.

She said Ruben proceeded to conduct the "sweet game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"The police had not responded by that point," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.

The legal representative stated the minors were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the family member contacted the law enforcement once more.

She explained the man then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
